What is Image Resizer?

Image Resizer scales images by specifying exact pixel dimensions or a percentage while preserving the aspect ratio to prevent distortion. It includes one-click presets for popular social media platforms — Instagram posts and stories, Facebook cover photos, Twitter/X headers, YouTube thumbnails, and LinkedIn banners — so you can resize for any platform without looking up dimensions. Supported input formats include JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF. Drag and drop your image, choose your target size, and download the result instantly. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, so your photos are never uploaded to any server — making it safe for personal and sensitive images.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does maintaining aspect ratio mean?

Aspect ratio is the width-to-height proportion of an image. When this option is enabled, changing the width automatically adjusts the height (or vice versa), preventing the image from being stretched or squashed.

Does enlarging an image degrade quality?

Yes, enlarging beyond the original size may degrade quality as pixels are interpolated. For high-quality enlargements, we recommend using high-resolution source images.

What image size does Instagram require?

Instagram recommends 1080×1080 pixels for square posts, 1080×1350 for portrait posts, and 1080×1920 for Stories and Reels. Use the preset or enter custom dimensions to match these specifications.

What happens to file size after resizing?

Generally, shrinking an image also reduces file size. However, results vary depending on format and content. Check the file size in the preview before downloading.

Can animated GIFs be resized?

GIF format is supported, but resizing an animated GIF will output it as a static image (first frame only). For resizing while preserving animation, please use a dedicated tool.
