About PDF Split Tool
The PDF Split tool lets you extract specific pages from a PDF file using pdf-lib, which runs in your browser. Reports and proposals often run dozens or hundreds of pages, but you may only need a particular chapter to share with a colleague or attach to an email. Page ranges are specified using a flexible notation like "1-3, 5, 7-10" with commas and hyphens, so even non-consecutive pages can be extracted in a single operation.
Key Features
- Extract specific pages from PDF files in your browser
- Flexible page range specification (single pages, ranges, multiple selections)
- Add files via drag & drop
- Automatic page count detection
- Fully local processing — files are never sent to a server
Common Use Cases

- Removing an internal appendix before submitting a report to an external client
- Extracting a single form page from a multi-form PDF to fill out and return
- Reducing email attachment size by splitting out only the relevant section of a large PDF
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Page extraction uses pdf-lib running as JavaScript in your browser. Files are not uploaded to any server.
How do I specify the page range?
You can specify multiple pages and page ranges using commas. For example, entering "1-3, 5, 7-10" will extract pages 1 through 3, page 5, and pages 7 through 10.
Can I split password-protected PDFs?
Password-protected PDFs are not supported. Please remove the password protection before using this tool.
Is there a file size limit?
Each file can be up to 50 MB.
Can I reorder pages when extracting?
The current version extracts pages in the same order as they appear in the original PDF. Page reordering is not supported. If you need a specific order, extract the pages first and then use a separate tool to rearrange them.
Does splitting affect image quality in the PDF?
No. The extraction process manipulates the internal PDF structure directly without re-compressing or re-rendering content. The output pages retain the same quality as the original. The file size decreases proportionally to the number of pages extracted.
